Nasal filler offers aesthetic solutions that do not require surgery to enhance the nose. Nasal filler can help to slim the nose, straighten the side profile and increase the tip height.

Nasal filler is a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler such as Juvederm, Restylane, Teoxane and Chroma branded fillers that are also in the rest of the face.

Which parts of the nose can be filled?

In general any area of the nose can be injected with dermal filler, however some areas pose different risks. It is up to the treating clinician to determine your suitability in those areas.

The Centre of the nasal bridge in often filled to create height and contour from front on which in turn makes the nose appear to be slimmer. It also aids in camouflaging any hump in the nasal bridge to give a straighter appearance.

The tip of the nose is also injected with dermal filler to elevate the height giving more of a pointy or lifted appearance.

Which preparations are made before the breast augmentation procedure?

We prefer re-examining our patients and completing the preoperative preparations on the day or days leading up to breast augmentation surgery. At this stage, preoperative routine tests and anaesthesiology examinations are performed. We prefer discussing informed consent forms and taking photos of patients a day before or in the days leading up to the surgery. We decide, together with the patient, the shape and size of the breast implant to be used specifically for breast augmentation surgery in the days before the surgery. We will make surgical markings on the morning of surgery day and answer any additional questions of our patients. The breast is an organ that is sensitive to hormones and imaging tests should be performed for this organ at certain intervals. Therefore, we ask our patients to have mammography and breast ultrasound before the surgery. These images are quite useful for postoperative follow-up of augmented breasts.

Could the nose look smaller with nasal filler?

A common misconception with dermal filler is that by adding filler we are creating more volume so in turn the area looks bigger. However when strategically placing filler in certain areas and creating contours it makes the nose appear to be smaller.

In some cases however filler is not suitable for some noses and a surgical Rhinoplasty would be more suitable.

Your treating clinician will assess this for you and advise.

Can nasal filler be an alternative to a surgical Rhinoplasty?

Nasal filler is a great alternative to a surgical rhinoplasty to improve the overall appearance of the nose. However patient selection, safety and realistic outcomes are key.

Dermal filler in the nose does not improve or alter the function of the nose such a septal deviation or nasal narrowing. This would require surgery.

How long does nasal filler last?

With our brands of filler such as Juverderm Voluma or Volux, Restylane Lyft, Teoxane RH 4 and Chroma Volume + filler they have a lasting effect of 12 – 18 months.

Is nasal filler painful ?

Nasal filler is very well tolerated with minimal discomfort. The Dermal filler used as listed above also have a numbing agent included to assist in patient comfort.

A Cannula or a needle is then used to inject the product into the nose. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and then you are able to return back to your daily living.

What is the satisfaction rate of patients with nasal fillers?

In general, patient satisfaction with nasal fillers is high in well-selected patients. The most important reason for this is to provide a visible aesthetic change in a short time without the need for surgery

Am I a candidate?

Patient selection is key. It is always best to come in and see one of our treating physicians to asses suitability.

You must be over 18.

What should I look out for after nasal filler?

Swelling and redness is normal after nasal filler. Some tenderness to the area is also common.

Any skin colour changes such as blanching white or mottled skin to the area may need to be assessed.

Can I do a surgical Rhinoplasty if I have nasal filler?

Nasal filler is fine to have before a rhinoplasty. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved prior to surgery should you decide to do a surgical rhinoplasty.

The important point here is to tell your doctor that you have had nasal filler before going ahead with surgical intervention.
