Nasolabial Filler Sydney & Canberra
Where exactly is the nasolabial area?
The nasolabial region is the name given to the line starting from the edge of the nose and extending to the edges of the lips. This area over time becomes deeper due to ageing and the dynamic movement around the mouth creating creasing of the skin.
What does Nasolabial Filler include?
Your clinician will assess your nasolabial folds and advise you on the best treatment based on your starting point and expectations.
Dermal filler is used for nasolabial folds. A more dense filler such as Juverderm Voluma/Volux , Restylane Lyft/Defyne, Teoxane Rha 4 or Chroma Volume + is used first in the pyriform region adjacent to the nose. This area also provides support and structure to the mouth and nose when filled.
A more fine dermal filler such as Juverderm Volift or Restylane Refyne is used to fill the lines that become closer to the mouth.
In some cases we also use this thinner filler in a Ferning technique in the superficial plane elevate your result.
Your clinician will use a needle or a cannula to perform this treatment. It is very well tolerated with minimal discomfort to the patient.
Why do I have nasolabial folds?
As we age we lose the bone density and elastin in our face meaning that with gravity our structures start to move south. With the nasolabial folds due to the recession of the cheek bones, heaviness starts to form at the nasolabial area forming deep lines.
Your clinician will assess this for you and may advise the need for filler in the cheek bones to help lift and support the area, taking the weight of the nasolabial fold.
In some cases also due to the aging process, skin looses its hydration and laxity which adds to the increase of folding. Your clinician will assess this also and may advise some bio remodelling injections such as Profhilo to target the skin quality on top.
Post treatment care?
After any dermal filler treatment some redness, swelling and bruising is to be expected however you are able to return back to your daily activities after your treatment.
