Under-eye (Tear trough) Filler Sydney & Canberra
As we age, we tend to lose volume in the region under our eye area called the tear trough. This results in hollowing to the under eyes and in turn gives the appearance of dark circles and a fatigued appearance.
Dermal filler is used to treat and correct this by adding volume and hydration to the area to give a more youthful appearance.
Different types of filler used?
All fillers applied to the face contain hyaluronic acid and are absorbed by the body in a certain time. Dermal fillers range in different densities and your treating clinician will choose according to your needs.
Filler used for the under eye, such as Teoxane Redensity 2, Juverderm Volbella or Restylane Refyne have smaller particle sizes. This way, a smooth appearance can be achieved under the eye.
How is under-eye filler applied?
A Cannula with a round tip is used under the eyes, to layer the filler. This technique reduces the risk of bruising and swelling in comparison to many needle injections. The round tip will push blood vessels aside rather then pierce them causing a bruise.
Topical anaesthetic can be applied however its required. Under eye filler is very well tolerated with minimal discomfort.
How much under-eye filler will I require?
The amount of filler required varies between patients. It depends on the severity of the hollowness.
In some cases when the mid face i.e the cheeks aren’t structurally supported your clinician may advise the need for some dermal filler into the cheeks to support the tear trough, with a thicker product like Restylane Lyft or Juverderm Voluma.
The under eye skin is also very delicate and thin, so we are careful not to over fill the area.
How long does Under eye filler last?
With dermal filler from our range of Restylane, Juvederm, Chroma and Teoxane, your tear-trough filler can last 6-12 months.
What should be considered after under-eye filler?
Some bruising and swelling is to be expected. However with the use of a cannula much less.
Any persistent lumps may be massaged to even them out.
Any white blanching or mottled appearance may need to be assessed by the clinician.
When can I go back to work?
You can return back to work immediately after the procedure. Avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hrs to prevent excess swelling.
What is the best under-eye filler brand?
Our preference for under eye filler is Juvederm Volbella, Teoxane Redensity 2 and Restylane Refyne.
